My Deer Buddies Visit Again

We may have started in Virginia and Ohio but we are scattered all over now!  Eventually I will put the back issues of the family newsletter on this blog that I created in the 1990s. That will give you teh early history of the Biedlers of Virginia.

This month I would like to transfer the material from the previous Biedler blog to this new upgraded one. I am probably reinventing the wheel by cutting and pasting from the old blog, but this is the only way I can figure out how to do it.

Meanwhile, I'll just start the transfer with a few photos from our yard.

These guys like to mow my driveway for me this time of year. Just wish they did a more thorough job.

(3) There were two younger ones with the buck. I figured the two younger ones were from last year's crop of fawn's.

(4)
Nice profile of his rack.

(6)
I don't know much about deer behavior. Do the young males of last season only hang out with the older males from the season before them once they leave Mom?

(7)
Nice manly profile!

(8)
I make a move inside and he looks up.

What's caught Junior's attention? See the other young one up above him in the folage?

(11)
Has he spotted a new arrival?

(12) Ah, ha! Another buck of equivalent age!

(13)

They had one little very minor altercation but I think they already knew each other. They continued to graze together for another 10 minutes. There was a fourth one---a second young one----but he was off in the side yard.

No sparring in this shot. They were just grazing very close together.
